Dr Thomas Eck is Head of Thermal Power within vgbe energy e.V. (formerly known as VGB PowerTech e.V.), the International Association of power plant and energy asset operators. vgbe energy, founded in 1920, is covering all aspects of the future energy system with a specific focus on dispatchable generation, renewables, energy storage and hydrogen.

One of his main topics over the last years was and still is the repurposing of power plants. He is also responsible for Research and Development projects in this area. Before joining vgbe in 2008, Thomas has worked at RWTH Aachen University in different expert functions at the Institute of Building Materials Research. Thomas studied Civil Engineering at RWTH Aachen University and received his PhD there as well.
