SSS Clutches have been the mainstay clutch choice for power generation in energy storage (CAES, pumped hydro), single shaft combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT), combined heat and power (CHP), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), turbine turning and starting drives since their initial conception within synchronous condensing open cycle gas turbine (OCGT) power stations in the early 1960's. Over 48000 SSS Clutches have been manufactured by SSS since, with almost 600 references within single shaft combined cycle gas turbine drives and combined heat / power generation installations alone. With installed and operating references transmitting 400,000 kW, torque up to 4,000,000 Nm and speeds up to 20,000 rpm, SSS Clutches remain the world leader in overrunning clutches. SSS Clutches are now becoming more prevalent in energy storage machinery where certain renewable technologies are unable to synchronise with demand.
