The G3-Alliance is a consortium created in 2011 to standardize and promote G3-Technologies globally.
Today, the G3-Alliance counts almost 100 members that are international key stakeholders of the smart grid ecosystem, including utilities, semiconductor companies, equipment manufacturers and industrial companies. Together, they support, promote and implement the G3-Hybrid and G3-PLC technologies and established an industrial certification program to guarantee for the interoperability of devices from different manufacturers.
G3-PLC is a proven Powerline Communication technology that offers the lowest total cost of ownership and operates independently from telecom operators. This technology facilitates high-speed, highly-reliable, long-range communication over existing powerlines, making it ideal for smart grid applications. By leveraging the existing powerline infrastructure, G3-PLC eliminates the need for additional communication paths, reducing installation and maintenance costs.
G3-Hybrid combines the strengths of both wired (PLC) and wireless (RF) communication, offering seamless communication over both media for smart grid and IoT applications. G3-Hybrid is the first industry standard for hybrid powerline and radio communication. It strongly reduces the complexity and cost of network installations while maximizing coverage and connectivity.
Over 100 million G3 products have already been deployed in more than 30 countries around the world.
The three main objectives of the G3-Alliance are:
• Maintain and enhance the G3-Hybrid and G3-PLC standards
• Operate international certification program to enable interoperability amongst different manufacturers
• Promote the value, benefits and applications of G3-Technologies globally
