Our planet faces a critical challenge: climate change. Human activities, overpopulation, and fossil fuel use have led to the release of over 37 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere in 2021 alone. Scientists agree that CO2 emissions are the primary cause of global warming. Urgent action is needed to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C and prevent severe consequences.
Enter the SEMPRE-BIO project—an initiative focused on biomethane production. Biomethane, derived from biodegradable organic materials, offers a renewable and sustainable energy source. SEMPRE-BIO aims to develop innovative technologies using three waste types: wastewater, green waste, and cattle manure. The produced biomethane will power public transportation, heavy vehicles, and the grid.
